More tips on recording your conversation
Have your laptop at arms length
If you are around arms length from your recording device then the inbuilt microphone will work best. Make sure everyone else is doing the same.
Avoid noisy rooms
A little bit of domestic noise is fine if you’re comfortable with this. It’s normal. But too much will be distracting for the person watching. If you get interrupted, treat it as a natural occurrence not a mistake, and incorporate it into the conversation.
Take it a step at a time
You can take the conversation in small chunks, and we can edit out the gaps later. It’s up to you to decide what you’re comfortable with.
Keep it cosy
A cosy kitchen setting will help remind people that even complex issues like trade can affect our everyday lives, and that they shouldn’t just be a topic for experts.
Speak slowly
Allow your voice, face and hands to express what you’re saying. This keeps the conversation natural and makes your point easy to understand.
Use natural light
A bright, day-light setting which lights your face gently and doesn’t create pools of high contrast will help your conversation jump off the screen.
